St John Bosco - High Mass 29 Jan 2017

The choir's engagements during January always culminate with its participation during St John Bosco's feast that is celebrated at the Don Bosco Oratory in Victoria. Chorus Urbanus honoured this yearly engagement by performing John Galea's Missa In Fractione Panis that is cast in 4-part polyphonic settings that alternate with Gregorian chant based on the Missa de Angelis during High Mass presided by Msgr Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo. During the service the choir sang d. Luigi Lasagna's antiphon - Sapientiam together with other motets to celebrate this great modern saint (photo below).

This year's feast will be remembered as it precursors the visit that the choir will pay to the Basilica of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice in Valdocco, Torino where the remains of St John Bosco, Saint Domenico Savio are venerated. More details of our visit to this Salesian Holy Land will be posted in due course.
